A bit about me
My work is an exploration of the archaeological nature of memory. Much like the weathered walls of ancient cities, my paintings are built on a foundation of history—constructed from layers of antique book pages, vintage maps, and global ephemera. These materials serve as a record of where we have been, a physical manifestation of the past.
To bridge the gap between history and the present, I integrate typography that references the contemporary zeitgeist. This creates a friction between the 'then' and the 'now' that I find essential to the creative process. After obscuring these elements under dense layers of paint, I begin the work of deconstruction. By scraping, sanding, and scratching the surface, I act as an anthropologist of the canvas, unearthing fragments of what lies beneath. Each piece is a journey—a slow reveal of a hidden narrative that invites the viewer to navigate the layers of our collective identity.
